A 1:18 Scale Bargain |
I purchased this tank for my son to use with his 25th Anniversary GI Joe figures. At the time there was a lack of vehicles for the figures to use. I did some research and came across the Elite Force line from BBi. Little did I know that there is a whole subculture of scale toy collecting and the 1:18 scale (The scale made for GI Joes) is just the tip of the iceberg.
The product itself is massive. The images don't do the tank justice at all. If you are a fan of GI Joe and collected them when you were younger, the largest Joe tank is dwarfed by this monstrous toy. The vehicle is made of plastic which means that it is fairly durable for hours of play. The outside details are amazing and look fairly accurate. As a Joe Collector from the 80s this toy is exactly what I wanted growing up. The toy is detailed, large, to scale with the figures, and costs a fair amount of money considering what you get.
There are some more detailed products out there that I've discovered but, for cost and play value this one is the best overall. The others can cost up to two times more.
The only problem with the tank I had is that it is difficult to fit the 25th Anniversary GI Joes into the hatches on top. You can easily fix this be unscrewing the tank and removing the two plates that cover the bottoms of each hatch. All the screws are the same so if you get them jumbled up, it's ok. The floor/ cover plates come right off with the removal of two screws and there is immediately enough clearance to fit any GI Joe figure you like.
This product was so great that I purchased my son a second tank and I've searched the internet for other BBI vehicles, all 1:18 scale, including humvees, helicopters, infantry vehicles, and aircraft. If you are into military vehicles, GI Joe, or scale toy collecting this is a great purchase. I only wish that BBi would make more vehicles, including some modern Russian equipment for Cobra to use, and make them more widely available. |

Fully accurate scale tank |
I purchased this tank at a Target retail store. I was please with the quality of the vehicle. It has no actualy shooting parts. Treads are rubber and the wheels for them move when the tank is pushed along. 2 hatches on top are the only spots for your figure to sit in and they open and close. The hatches cannot be closed when figures are in the tank.
the only downside of the tank is that the seat positions are very narrow. Vintage Joe, marvel showdown,or Corp figures will not fit easily. Modern CORPS figures will not fit at all.
Elite forces, Elite operations, and modern Joe were OK fit and look good in the turret. Be careful if giving this to a child as the driver's arms both broke on mine when moved due to the articulation style of the elbows. Figure was awsome looking so I superglued this arms and put him back in place though |
